Please be advised that at the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Transit Employees’ Health & Benefit Trust, held on May 15, 2024, the Trustees determined to reduce the “contribution rate” for the members of the Unifor/CMBC LTD Plan, as per above, effective June 24, 2024.
The decision of the Trustees was based on the December 31, 2023 “Actuarial Valuation Report” of the LTD Plan and the recommendation of the Mercers (Canada) Limited (the Actuaries), retained by the Trustees to conduct the report.

Please be advised that to assist in making education more accessible, Unifor have established 23 scholarships of $2,000 each to children of Unifor members and a Unifor member entering their first year of post- secondary studies.
After the recent CUPE 4500 job action, Unifor National filed a grievance on behalf of all Local 111 and 2200 members attempting to recover lost wages for the two days job action by CUPE 4500. We have consulted with both the National Legal Department and a Vancouver based law firm on this grievance and have resolved the grievance with the Employer.
We are writing to update you on our union’s response to the transit crisis created by Coast Mountain Bus Company’s inept bargaining with the supervisors’ union, CUPE 4500.
We are aware of the collective bargaining dispute currently ongoing between Coast Mountain Bus Company and CUPE local 4500 related to transit supervisors.
As you are all aware workers represented by CUPE Local 4500 have been in bargaining with C.M.B.C. for several months. Unfortunately, the parties have reached an impasse that resulted in the union issuing a 72 hour strike notice that will take effect on Saturday January 6.
Unifor Local 111 & 2200 Bargaining Committees have been finalizing proposals in preparation for the renewal of the Collective Agreement, which will expire on March 31, 2023.
On December 1 and 2, 2022, the arbitration regarding the dispute over LOU #41B – Skilled Trades Wage Increase and Wage Adjustment – took place between Unifor 2200 and Coast Mountain Bus Company.
